Spruce did show some flashes of success on the NHL level, most of his professional success came while in the minors. He was
amongst the teams' scoring leaders in each year he played for each team he played on.
The success that he did get in the NHL was as a role player. Just an FYI.
He had missed most of the Rockies' training camp in 1978 due to severe headaches that lead to his hospitalization. (Must mean
post-concussion syndrome, but I cannot verify that.) It hampered his play considerably, and ultimately lead to him returning to
the minors the rest of his career.
He did have a couple coaching jobs in the mid-80s, notably with the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL, but I don't have any info on
him from after 1985.
Entry Draft: 1974 Sixth Round Pick (95th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks
