If there was anything a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins taught Lou Lamoriello, it was that bottom 6 depth was a must have. Thus,
he made the move to get Ponikarovsky.
He has the size, he WILL use it, he's good for 20 goals, and he can play either wing. A friend, who is a Leafs fan, so he would
have a good opinion of Poni's skillset, described him this way: "Think of Zubrus, only with half the talent." (I came back with
"And half the paycheck." heh)
Now all that remains is how will it work out, as he's only on a one-year deal.
He did get a goal in his first game as a Devil. That's gotta account for something.
Entry Draft: 1998 Fourth Round Pick (87th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs
