I can see potential in Pihlman as a second line winger with some usage on the power play because of his size. I'll get to what
happened in a second.
He was a late bloomer for Jyvaskyla, amassing 34 points in 02-03, more than tripling his totals from the season before.
That season would also be his last before coming to North America. He largely saw time with Albany and Lowell while also
seeing a handful of games in New Jersey. He never broke 30 points in an AHL season, though. The closest he would get is his
first season in Albany: 29 that season.
If nothing else, coming to North America was a good learning experience for Pihlman, taking what he learned back to Finland
with him and seeing career years with Jyvaskyla as a result.
The Devils still maintain his NHL rights, by the way.
