Ultimately, Patterson became a career minor leaguer. At the time the Scouts acquired him, he was, for all intents and purposes,
just starting out.
As a minor leaguer, he was a solid player that was good for putting up 25 points or more in a season. It was unfortunate that his
NHL game didn't translate into that, but look who he was playing for.
He was Edmonton Oilers property for the season after, but spent the majority of the season with the Rhode Island Reds of the
AHL. The season after, he joined the Philadelphia Flyers' organization and save 3 games, he spent his entire tenure with the
Maine Mariners, winning the Calder Cup with them twice and also served as their captain for 3 seasons.
After his playing career was finished in 1983, he remained with the Flyers as one of their scouts. He has been in the scouting
game for a LONG time. He served with the North Stars as scout for 3 seasons (The last 3 before the move to Dallas), and the
Panthers for 1 season. The rest of his years he's been with the Flyers, and that includes the present.
Entry Draft: 1970 Third Round Pick (34th overall) by the Minnesota North Stars
