In such a short time, Parise has already become an integral part of the Devils. In short, he's the go-to guy on the offensive end.
He had a decent rookie year, but his emergence came playing on the ZZ Pops line in 06-07. Him, Travis Zajac, and Jamie
Langenbrunner brought out the best in each other. It lead to Parise leading the team in goals.
He would have a small shuffle in personnel in 07-08, getting Patrik Elias as his new centerman, and a split between Brian Gionta
and Langenbrunner over on the right, but the result was the same. (Even upped: scoring leader.)
But a tough, gritty side of him would show itself, as well. How else can you describe getting into your first NHL fight against
Dan Boyle? (A REAL fight, too, not one while keeping his helmet on, visor and all.) And also taking a stick to the mouth,
resulting in losing two teeth?
It's official now: Parise is a hockey player, not a pretty boy.
Entry Draft: 2003 First Round Pick (17th overall) by the New Jersey Devils
