In the Mitchell-O'Donnell trade, it was a swap of stay-at-home defensemen. The only difference was O'Donnell had a few years
of NHL experience already under his belt, where as Mitchell was just breaking in.
Well, Mitchell became the player he became under Jacques Lemaire in Minnesota. O'Donnell: nothing more than a rental,
although he did fit in well with Larry Robinson's system.
He would finish the pre-lockout stretch with the Bruins, and started with the Phoenix Coyotes post-lockout. That wouldn't last
long, though, as he was traded to the Anaheim Ducks and was a key part of the 2007 Cup champions.
For 08-09, he was traded back to the team that he broke into the NHL with: the Los Angeles Kings. He would play his 1000th
NHL game with them during the season.
Entry Draft: 1991 Sixth Round Pick (123rd overall) by the Buffalo Sabres
