Myre (pronounced Mear) was a long time starter while playing for the Atlanta Flames. He had also helped the Flyers make a
run for the Stanley Cup in 1980 before Bobby Nystrom and the Islanders put an end to their hopes.
In getting him and Chico Resch the following month, the Rockies strengthened themselves in goal immensely late in the 80-81
season. Gotta love the irony there, though. Backups on teams in the Stanley Cup finals one year, teammates the following year.
But at this point, his career was nearing an end.
It finished while in Buffalo. He took to coaching with their farm team, the Rochester Americans, when he finished playing there.
After 2 seasons under Mike Keenan on their bench, he also served as either an assistant, a goalie coach, or a consultant with
the Los Angeles Kings, the Detroit Red Wings, the Chicago Blackhawks, and Ottawa Senators, where he also served as a
scout, a coaching career that lasted for 20 years.
Entry Draft: 1966 First Round Pick (5th overall) by the Montreal Canadiens
