Although Morrison was drafted by the Rangers, he never played for them. Actually, he didn't play in the NHL until the Rockies
signed him. He did have a few years in the minors, but most of his career was spent in the WHA.
He had also started out as a winger in juniors.
He was a tough player, but he could also generate some offense. He had scored 20+ goals 3 times and 40+ assists 4 times in the
WHA.
He was nowhere near what he was in the WHA when he came to Denver. He did have one brilliant game, though. He had
gotten a goal and 4 assists against the Flyers on February 19, 1980. That 5-point night is a record for Rockie defensemen.
Most of that season was spent playing for the Fort Worth Texans. After the season ended, he retired. He had taken a year off
before he started playing senior league hockey for 5 years up in Newfoundland.
Entry Draft: 1969 Third Round Pick (35th overall) by the New York Rangers
