Micheletti was also drafted by the Cincinnati Stingers of the WHA in 1974. His rights would be traded to the Calgary Cowboys
later on. The point being that once his career at the University of Minnesota was over, he would join the Cowboys in 1977
instead of the NHL.
When the merger came and went, he was at the time Edmonton Oilers property. So that's how he came into the NHL. He
would never play for the NHL Oilers, though; the Blues traded for him the summer before the 79-80 season started.
His stint with the Rockies would be his last NHL games. Later that season, he was playing with the CHL's Tulsa Oilers. He had
also represented the US at the Worlds that spring, but that was it for his playing days.
He got himself into broadcasting in 1985. He was Dan Kelly's radio partner for Blues games for 2 seasons. After a 3-year stint
as the Blues' assistant coach, he moved to TV and did color for the Minnesota North Stars. He rejoined the Blues a couple
seasons later and was part of FS Midwest's broadcast team. He would join the SportsChannel New York (Now MSG Plus)
team in 1995 as Howie Rose's partner for Islanders' games. (I vaguely remember that now.) He moved to Sam Rosen's side in
2006 when John Davidson left the Rangers' broadcast team to become the Blues' Team President.
He has also done coverage/analyst work for the last four Olympics, as well as color on the national NHL games. (You know,
ABC, ESPN, FOX, etc.) Plus in 2009, he started doing analyst work for games on Versus.
Entry Draft: 1974 Seventh Round Pick (123rd overall) by the Montreal Canadiens
