Signing McGillis was done in haste. The Devils lost Scott Niedermayer to the Ducks the same day and were looking for a
defenseman to give Brian Rafalski some offensive support on the backline, among other things.
Well... he didn't provide much in New Jersey. Things were so stagnant, he would end up being sent down to Albany midseason.
He would play one more season in the organization with Lowell, where he had an okay season.
He received a tryout with the Vancouver Canucks in '07, but didn't make the team. That's when he opted to play in Germany.
He's been with Mannheim since.
Entry Draft: 1992 Tenth Round Pick (238th overall) by the Detroit Red Wings
