Lukowich had garnered a rep of being a leader on the backline, a very good, tough stay-at-home defenseman that also plays
disciplined.
He was also a winner, having won the Stanley Cup in Dallas in 1999 and in Tampa Bay in 2004.
Why in the world did the Devils let him go back to Tampa?
Of course, things were bad for the Lightning in 07-08. Nothing he did, though. That's just how things work out sometimes. He
got a chance to bring a winner out of the Sharks the following year, but he didn't stick around long enough to see that through,
either.
So after a brief stop in Vancouver, he would return to the Stars, having split between Dallas and what's now his main gig, the
Texas Stars of the AHL.
Entry Draft: 1994 Fourth Round Pick (90th overall) by the New York Islanders
