Lehvonen played a balanced game on the backline. By that, I mean that he was a 2-way defenseman.
He played nearly all of his career in the minors, mostly with the Port Huron Flags/Wings of the IHL. He got to win the Turner
Cup with the Flags in the 1971 season, but because of injuries, wasn't a part of the repeat performance the renamed Wings had.
The injury bug was part of the problem as to why he couldn't make it to the bigs. He sat out all of the 73-74 season for the same
reason. He would sign with the Scouts and play 4 games with them, but ultimately, he would remain with the Port Huron team
that season.
After sitting out the 77-78 season, he decided to go play in Finland. He would play 2 seasons with Jokerit and 2 with Ilves
Tampere before retiring in 1982.
Entry Draft: 1970 Fifth Round Pick (62nd overall) by the Minnesota North Stars
