Coming to the Scouts was, as history would show, pretty much a last chance for Lagace. He had the skills and usefulness to play
a lot of minutes (He was good positionally, and could play on both the PP and the PK), but was largely used as either an extra
D-man or was sent to the minors (largely with the Pens, but had also played in the Montreal organization) up till this point.
Well, he for the most part did get some regular play since the trade. It didn't translate in his numbers. Why does this sound
familiar?... Oh, right. Paul Martin was the same way. The only difference is Lagace was able to fight.
The season that he played in the WHA would be the last season of his career. He would remain in Birmingham post-retirement
to live.
