Kellgren was part of an influx of Scandinavian players that saw games with the Rockies in that last season in Denver. It was
more an experiment than anything, in my view; most of them, like Kellgren, went back to their home countries at the end of the
season after finishing with the CHL's Forth Worth Texans.
In Kellgren's case, like many others, adjusting to North American hockey, with the style of play and the rink size, was a problem.
He was an up-and-coming star with Vastra Frolunda before coming over, and that stardom would be reached when he
returned. He was consistently one of the Indians' top scorers each season until he retired in 1989.
He is part of Frolunda's management today as their Director of Hockey Operations.
