All these years, I thought Foster was a stay-at-homer. Boy, was I wrong when the Devils got him and had to read up on him.

In fact, he's not really known for his defensive play or using his size, so that's a concern. But so was the Devils' power play,
which he is a specialist at. Reports say that he has a cannon of a shot that will get through , something that's been missing from
the Devils' defensemen for quite some time now.

Although they have a few outside shooters already, especially Ilya Kovalchuk, who has been drawing a lot of attention from
opposing PKs, the intent of getting Foster was to have them respect HIS shot to open things up for Kovy.

Well, so far, things HAVE opened up a little on the power play, so he's been doing his job in that regard.

The rest of his gave I'll reserve judgment on until he gets more games under his belt. Besides, it's a low risk-high reward trade
Lou Lamoriello made to get him. If he doesn't work out, this IS his walk year.
