Flesch had had some games with the Minnesota North Stars and the Pittsburgh Penguins prior to coming to the Rockies.
However, at the time, he was also an established superstar in the IHL with the Grand Rapids Owls.
The only reason I can think of about this signing was that it was a tryout... or a loan, one of the two. How else do you explain
only playing 5 games with the team?
After he left the Rockies, though, he never played in the NHL again. He finished his career in the I, which ended in 1986. He
had 296 goals and 396 assists for 692 points while playing for Columbus/Dayton/Grand Rapids, the Milwaukee Admirals, and
the Kalamazoo Wings.
