Favell was one of the many players that benefited from the original expansion in 1967. He ended up making a good career in the
NHL out of it.
He probably would have been the starter for the Rockies for the balance of the 76-77 season, but a knee injury limited him to
30 games.
The following year, though, he got those games, including 2 playoff games. The only Rockie goalie to play a playoff game for
them.
Things fell apart for him in the last season, leaving him to be sent to the minors.
He would be claimed by the Oilers in the 1979 Expansion Draft, but opted to retire rather than play with them. He still got in the
history books with that, though, as the only player to be selected in the 67 and 79 Expansion Drafts.
