When Peter DeBoer saw that Carter was available on the waiver wire, he made a recommendation to Lou Lamoriello, thinking
that he could be of use. (No bullshit, either.) The team was already down two centers through injury (Travis Zajac and Jacob
Josefson), so Lou put the claim in.
He has been described as a role player. I immediately picked up on that when I went to look at his career stats. (I had
forgotten that he had played for the Ducks for a few seasons already, but that's another story.) And I was immediately fine with
that, with all the top 6 and potential top 6 players that are already there.
The role he's been playing, he's been doing okay to date.
The Devils are actually his fourth team inside approximately a calendar year. (Ducks, Hurricanes, and Panthers, in that order,
were the others.)
