Before you ask... no, no relation. :p
Carlsson was a great player, but he only lasted as long as he did in the NHL for two reasons. One was a feud with Doug
Carpenter, which brought on the second reason of not being a regular in the Devils' lineup, having also seen some games in both
Maine and Utica, although not a lot in either place, either.
He still had a long career, though, in Sweden. The aforementioned Brynas IF Galve team that he played for when he returned to
Sweden was also where he got his start professionally in 1979. Also prior to coming to North America, he had also played for
Sodertalje SK. After he finished his second stint with Brynas, he moved on to Vasteras for a season, then joined Swedish
powerhouse Leksands, where he ultimately finished his career after the 2000-01 season was concluded.
Carlsson was also a regular on the international scene for the Swedes for the Worlds, and also played in the 87 Canada Cup.
