Auge (pronounced oh-jay) spent his entire career in the minors. He had a few years under his belt already when the Rockies
signed him; he had been a pro since he left the University of Minnesota in 1975.
If the name sounds even remotely familiar to you, it's probably because he had attempted to try out for the US Olympic Team in
1980. He was cut during that winter, though. One of the last cuts made.
Besides the 6 games in Denver, he had played 3 seasons with the CHL's Fort Worth Texans, including joining the team after he
was cut from the Olympic team, and enjoyed solid seasons with them. He would retire after the 81-82 season.
He had passed away during open heart surgery in 2002.
