Attwell did have some skills offensively, but was never able to crack an NHL lineup permanently. Hell, he barely got in his
temporary work. While he was in the organization, though, while playing for Fort Worth, he did put up good numbers with 2
60+ point seasons. (79-80 and 81-82)
Although he did sign with the Oilers, the thought of playing in the NHL with them... forget about it. After a season with their
AHL team in Moncton, he finished his North American career with a season with Fort Wayne of the IHL.
The rest of his career from 1984 on (He retired in 1990.) was spent playing in Germany. He played with teams in the second
division, though, but he did put up good numbers in his years over there, including 2 40-goal seasons and 2 others with at least
30.
Entry Draft: 1979 Sixth Round Pick (106th overall) by the Colorado Rockies
