Regular Season Statistics with the Franchise
Abel was the only general manager the Scouts have ever known. Most of us already know of his days with the
Detroit Red Wings, centering the famed Production Line, and later on coaching the Wings, as well as the
Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues.

When he took on the Scouts' coaching position, replacing Bep Guidolin, it was only temporary until he found
someone to take over fulltime. (It probably didn't help that he lost all 3 of his games.)

Abel would be gone from the franchise altogether once the Scouts moved to Denver. He went into radio
broadcasting for the Red Wings.

He passed away in early 2000.
