As defined by the NHL, this trophy is awarded to "the coach adjudged to have
contributed the most to his team's success." Translation: Coach of the Year.

History of the trophy: The Adams trophy was presented by the NHL Broadcaster's
Association to commemorate the late Jack Adams, former coach and GM of the Detroit
Red Wings, in 1974.
